Susan BargateOwner'Horses have been in my life since I was 7 years old when I was given my first pony, a 12hh bundle of naughtiness called Sparky. I loved gymkhana games, cross country and showjumping as a child and competed on many pony and riding club teams. It was a fantastic way to spend my childhood.
I took over Burnby Equestrian with the aim of giving that same opportunity to others. Now I am much more mature I appreciate the benefits of enjoying our beautiful countryside on horseback and I have a particular passion in encouraging the mature returner to join me in doing the same'. |
Felicity WardenManager & Instructor'I aim to provide friendly, confidence building sessions, which assist progression. I base my lessons on the foundations of riding, which begin with the "Scales of Training" for both horse and rider. I teach riders from as young as 4 years old through to adults. I am qualified to UKCC Level 2 as well as British Horse Society PT Level.
My speciality has to be working with nervous horses and owners. I have helped many riders work through their fears, whether its a simple mounting problem or a worry whilst hacking out. In the past I have worked on various yards, including work in Racing, Hunting and Riding Schools. I have owned horses for many years and completed BHS Stage 1 as a horse owner'. Bethany HarrisonInstructorBeth currently works as our Sunday instructor, offering private sessions and small groups for a range of ages. She is an experienced dressage competitor and coach, but can teach across all disciplines.

Burnby's HelpersHere at Burnby we have a team to help us with day to day tasks in the riding school. Our helpers start working when they are 13 years old and many stay with us into their teenage years and beyond. Most of our helpers learnt to ride with us and enjoyed life both in and out of the saddle.
A helpers main job is to support riders. However, they also get to experience yard tasks and the basics of what it is to look after a horse. If you would like to become one of Burnby's helpers then please do get in touch, as we love helping others learn. What better way to decide if you would like your own horse one day than experiencing how to care for them hands on! Our helpers also get priority event booking. |
